The General Assembly

General Assembly

  • General Assembly (GA) will be held in the school auditorium (chapel), involving all participants of SSLC.

  • Just like the Committee Sessions, GA will be held in a form of Formal Debate Sessions and Unmoderated Caucus.

  • In GA, however, each committee will act as one, meaning the representatives of each committee will be given the floor to deliver persuasive speeches to all other committees about why their resolution paper best fits the aim of the conference.

  • In the Final Debate session, all committees will vote and come up with a finalized list of 4 best set of problems and solutions once again, in a form of a Draft Resolution Paper.

  • The guest panels, including the Guest of Honor and other influential figures in Singaporean education system, will enter and revise the Draft Resolution Paper and deliver their opinions to the GA.

  • Q & A sessions will be held for the Guest Panel to question and advise the students regarding the resolution paper AND for the students to question the Guest Panel regarding the challenges they faced during the debate sessions.

  • After the Q & A sessions with both parties (Guest Panel and the General Assembly) are clear of their stance, the Guest Panel will leave.

  • The GA will hold one last Debate Session to amend and change certain parts of their Draft Resolution Paper according to the advices and opinions given by the Guest Panel.

  • The amended Draft Resolution Paper will then be finalized as a Final Resolution Paper, to be mailed to the Ministry of Education as a proposal to be implemented as a policy.

  • Even if the policy-making fails, the Final Resolution Paper will be agreed by the school leaders to implement them individually as soon as when their schools reopen, with the time span of an entire school year.
